The Holiday Series | The Budget Base

My name is Lily and I am a sun addict. There I said it, alright… I know I shouldn't love the sun or sunbathe as much as I do but I just love having a healthy looking tan and well I just love love love the sunshine. I mean who doesn't? But one thing I'm learning and being more conscious of is the importance of looking after your skin (hello £50 trips to the Lancome counter) so taking a facial SPF on holiday is an absolute must.

Most people would just use a ordinary suncream on their face. But as i'm so spot prone and conscious about what I put on my face I decided it was high time to delve into the world of facial SPFs. Kiehl's UV defence SPF seems to be one of the best floating around the market but with a £31 price tag I decided to keep on at my search. This is when I came across Soap & Glory's rather marvellous Make Yourself Youthful Sunshield Super Fluid SPF 50. The SPF promises to protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays, inject Vitamin C & E into your skin and slightly matify to avoid that whole shiny face look. It also has 'sun-damage-blocking' Liposhielf HEV Melanin which helps fight premature ageing, fancy. I wore the SPF every day and ended up with a paler face than my body, evidence of its effective benefits.

Lets face it though, you don't want to slap on the make up for pool side lounging but come on who only wants a face full of SPF?! That's where Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream comes in to work hand in hand with Soap & Glory's SPF. The CC cream is designed to colour correct dark spots, anti-fatigue and anti redness. On the skin it applies with the perfect amount of coverage but with a light dewy finish which is just what you want in a warmer climate. Oh and it contains a SPF 15 just to ramp the sun protection up a bit more.

These two products work ideally together to protect the skin and provide a nice bit of coverage without feeling like your whole face is sweating off in the heat, if you get what I mean… The Soap & Glory SPF retails at £15 and the Bourjois CC cream is at £9.99, both from Boots. So a total of £24.99 for a high protection and natural dewy light coverage base, not bad going hey.

  2. I just got the Bourjois CC Cream last week and so far I am loving it! I love that it has such a light texture--perfect for summer, especially as it's super hot and humid where I am. I do need to make more of an effort to consistently apply SPF on my face, though. I'm terrible about that!

  4. This is such a good idea, it's horrible piling on the makeup for sunbathing around others otherwise and I'm also super keen on the sun too (I'm so pale I'm borderline see-through)!
